Aston Martin F1 Team has signed British house label Defected Records to supply curated audio across team hospitality spaces and fan activations, the first partnership of its kind linking a Formula 1 constructor to a dance-music imprint. Financial terms were not disclosed. The deal positions Defected's catalog—deep house, soulful garage, disco edits—as the team's ambient soundtrack from paddock lounges to sponsor suites, effective immediately.
The move follows Aston Martin's $650 million Aramco title sponsorship in 2022 and a subsequent push into lifestyle adjacencies: Williams partnered with streetwear label Palace in 2023, McLaren launched an in-house apparel line, Ferrari opened Casa Ferrari in Miami. Defected brings 350,000 monthly listeners on Spotify and operates club nights in Ibiza, London, and Croatia. Aston Martin will use the label's archive and commission bespoke sets for race-weekend programming. The team's hospitality manager told trade press the goal is "a consistent vibe" from Thursday driver appearances through Sunday post-race, replacing ad-hoc playlisting.
This matters because Formula 1 hospitality has become a revenue line, not a cost center. Teams now charge sponsors $15,000 to $50,000 per paddock pass depending on race and access tier, according to paddock coordinators who spoke on background. The ambient experience—lighting, furniture, what plays overhead—directly affects renewal conversations. A Bahrain-based family office that hosts clients in McLaren's suite told associates the "feel" of a space weighs as heavily as driver performance when justifying the annual outlay. Defected's involvement suggests Aston Martin is treating audio as a brand pillar, the way Mercedes-AMG Petronas treats minimalist interior design or Red Bull Racing treats adrenaline choreography.
The partnership also signals Aston Martin's intent to monetize brand extensions beyond the car itself. The team does not manufacture road cars—Aston Martin Lagonda, the automaker, is a separate publicly traded entity with a licensing agreement. The F1 squad's margin comes from prize money, sponsorship, and increasingly, ancillary IP. A house-music collaboration opens pathways to co-branded events, streaming playlists tagged with team branding, potential festival activations during off-weekends. Defected has licensed tracks to Adidas, Puma, and Belvedere vodka in the past. The label's founder Wez Saunders was photographed in Aston Martin team kit at the Monaco paddock last month, seated two tables from team principal Mike Krack during a Thursday sponsor dinner.
What to watch: whether rival teams follow with their own audio partnerships before the Singapore Grand Prix in mid-September, traditionally the season's most hospitality-dense weekend. Alpine and Williams both have brand repositioning efforts underway. Also track whether Defected produces a race-weekend compilation for streaming release; such a product would test whether F1's 725 million cumulative TV audience translates to music-platform engagement. Finally, note any joint activations at the Las Vegas Grand Prix in November, where Defected already runs a residency at Wynn and Aston Martin will host its largest North American sponsor summit.
The team's hospitality chef mentioned in passing that Krack now requests the same four Defected tracks on loop during morning strategy sessions. That level of internal adoption usually precedes external commercialization within six months.
The takeaway
Aston Martin's Defected Records deal treats paddock acoustics as sellable IP, opening a new sponsorship category as F1 hospitality shifts from amenity to revenue product.

Your next customer won't visit your website. Their AI will.
AI assistants have quietly taken over the first step of buying — they answer from catalogs they can read and shortlist whoever can actually ship. Two questions now decide whether you exist to that buyer: can a machine read your catalog, and can you fulfill the order. Most brands fail one or both and never find out why the orders went elsewhere. The winners of this shift aren't the loudest. They're the most readable. Build for the machine that's about to do the shopping.
Built by the craft floor — apparel, media, packaging, and secure print.
This trade runs on hands, not desks. Imprint manufacturing & Komori Press · Canon high-speed secure-media operations is a craft floor — genuine Six Sigma discipline applied to ink, thread, foil, and registration, where a hundredth of an inch is the difference between a brand that reads serious and one that reads cheap. POPS4 is built by exactly those operators: independent, boots-on-the-ground engineers who carry their own book, read a client in microseconds, and put their name on every run. Beyond our own Virginia Beach floor, we work with a vetted network of craft manufacturers across the US — each meeting the highest excellence in QC standards in the industry, each a specialist in its own discipline — so apparel, hard-goods imprinting, media manufacturing, packaging, and secure printing all go to the bench built for them, coordinated from one accountable hub.
