LPGA Co-Sanctions $10M Aramco Event at Shadow Creek, Brings Saudi Capital to Women's Golf

The Las Vegas stop gives PIF a foothold in American women's golf while LPGA locks purse parity with men's secondary tours.

The LPGA Tour announced Wednesday it will co-sanction a Saudi-backed Aramco Team Series event at Shadow Creek in Las Vegas, the first direct PIF investment in American women's professional golf. The event carries a $10 million purse and joins the tour's 2026 schedule, positioning it among the top five richest stops outside majors.

Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund has run the Aramco Team Series across Asia, Europe, and the Middle East since 2021—team formats, corporate hospitality tents, no cut. Shadow Creek is the first U.S. venue. The LPGA gets co-sanctioning status, meaning players earn official money and Rolex Rankings points. Aramco, the state oil company that titles the series, already sponsors the Asian and European stops. The PIF bankrolls the purse. The LPGA takes its usual tour fee and a percentage of commercial rights. No equity stake changes hands.

This matters because the LPGA has been pricing its premium inventory—U.S. venues, network windows, Rolex points—at a discount to men's secondary circuits for a decade. The DP World Tour's best non-major events pay $9 million. Korn Ferry tops out around $1.5 million. The Aramco deal pulls the LPGA's ceiling up to $10 million for a single weekend, matching what the Asian Tour's LIV-adjacent events offer. It also gives Commissioner Mollie Marcoux Samaan cover to raise title sponsor asks across the board. If Saudi money validates a $10 million women's event, why is a Fortune 500 CEO paying $3 million for the same eyeballs in Orlando?

The optics are cleaner than LIV's 2022 debut. The LPGA avoids the breakaway-league problem by co-sanctioning rather than ceding control. Players don't have to choose between tours. Aramco's name has been on women's golf since the Saudi Ladies International launched in 2020, so the shock value is lower. The PGA Tour's framework agreement with PIF, still unfinished, gives the LPGA political cover—if the men are negotiating, the women can transact. The venue helps. Shadow Creek is Tom Fazio-designed, sits behind MGM Resorts' private gate, and has hosted Tiger's World Challenge. It photographs well.

What the LPGA gets: cash, obviously, but also leverage. Title sponsors now know the tour can pull $10 million from a single backer, so legacy partners either match or risk being priced out when their renewals come up in 2026 and 2027. The tour's media-rights negotiation with Golf Channel and NBC is set for 2025. A $10 million Saudi event gives the LPGA a data point to argue it's undervalued relative to men's golf in the same time slots. The PIF gets what it always gets—a clean relationship with an American sports property, a U.S. venue for its executive hospitality program, and another line item to show the kingdom is normalizing.

Shadow Creek's 2026 date is not yet public, but the Aramco Team Series typically runs in spring or fall to avoid summer heat in the Middle East. The LPGA's West Coast swing in March is full. October has two open weeks after the tour's Asia swing. Expect a late-October slot, which would give the event a clear run at corporate travel budgets before year-end and put it after the Solheim Cup. The tour will announce the full 2026 schedule by late summer. Aramco's existing Asian stops are managed by Golf Saudi, the PIF's operational arm. The LPGA will handle U.S. logistics through its Las Vegas office, which already runs the season-ending CME Group Tour Championship in Naples.

The Marcoux Samaan era is now defined by pricing aggression. She took over in 2021 at $70 million in total prize money. The 2025 schedule is north of $125 million. The Aramco deal pushes 2026 past $135 million. She has six months to convert that into leverage before the next media-rights cycle.

The tour's next earnings call with title sponsors is in May. Someone will ask about the Saudi money. The answer is already written: the LPGA co-sanctions, the players choose, and the purse is $10 million.

The takeaway
LPGA's **$10M** Saudi co-sanction at Shadow Creek sets a new purse ceiling for women's golf and gives the commissioner leverage heading into 2025 media-rights talks.

AI assistants have quietly taken over the first step of buying — they answer from catalogs they can read and shortlist whoever can actually ship. Two questions now decide whether you exist to that buyer: can a machine read your catalog, and can you fulfill the order. Most brands fail one or both and never find out why the orders went elsewhere. The winners of this shift aren't the loudest. They're the most readable. Build for the machine that's about to do the shopping.
