Newcastle United has placed Anthony Gordon, Sandro Tonali, and Tino Livramento on a shortlist of potential summer exits as the club seeks to generate £100-150 million in sales to satisfy Premier League Financial Fair Play requirements before the June 30 accounting deadline. Three sources familiar with the club's financial modeling confirmed the trio represents the most liquid assets on a balance sheet strained by two years of ambitious recruitment under Public Investment Fund ownership.

The club recorded a £73.4 million loss in its most recent filing and faces a three-year rolling assessment window that includes pre-PIF losses. Gordon, signed from Everton for £45 million in January 2023, has drawn interest from Liverpool and Chelsea. Tonali, acquired from AC Milan for £55 million last summer, remains under a ten-month betting ban that expires in August but retains secondary-market appeal among Italian clubs seeking deferred installments. Livramento, the £32 million right-back from Southampton, has appeared in just 18 league matches this season due to injury but fits the profile European mid-table clubs prefer: homegrown, 21 years old, resale upside.

The timing reveals Newcastle's structural bind. PIF injected £305 million in equity since October 2021, funding signings like Alexander Isak (£63 million), Bruno Guimarães (£40 million), and Tonali. But the Premier League's Profitability and Sustainability Rules cap aggregate losses at £105 million over three seasons, and Newcastle's spending pace has outrun commercial growth. The club's 2023-24 UEFA Champions League run generated £86 million in prize money and matchday income, but failure to qualify for Europe this season eliminates that buffer. Sponsors have not rushed to match Saudi Pro League valuations: Sela, the tourism partner, pays an estimated £25 million annually, respectable but not transformative.

Gordon's sale would hurt most on the pitch. The 24-year-old winger has 11 goals and 10 assists in 35 appearances this season, offering the wide threat Eddie Howe's system depends on. Liverpool's interest is real—Arne Slot watched him twice in March—and Gordon's England profile could command £70-80 million. Tonali's case is messier. His market value has dropped 30% since the betting suspension, but Juventus and Inter Milan have made preliminary inquiries about a loan with obligation, betting he returns to form post-ban. Livramento's £35-40 million price tag appeals to Borussia Dortmund and Bayer Leverkusen, both seeking Premier League-ready fullbacks.

The alternative is trimming the wage bill without transfer fees. Sean Longstaff, Callum Wilson, and Miguel Almirón are all 28 or older, on contracts through 2025 or 2026, and saleable only at discounts. Newcastle has already explored offers for Wilson (£100,000 weekly) from Saudi clubs, but his injury history reduces bids to £12-15 million, insufficient to move the FFP needle. The club's £200 million training ground expansion, financed separately, does not count against PSR but ties up cash flow.

Watch for three developments: first, any Gordon bid above £65 million before May 15, when Liverpool's board finalizes its summer budget; second, Tonali's Aug. 28 reinstatement date, after which his agents can negotiate cleanly; third, Newcastle's June 30 financial filing, which will show whether the club sold assets or accepted a reduced summer transfer budget. Howe has already been briefed that new signings depend on outgoing volume, not PIF willingness.

The club plays Brentford on May 3, the final home match of the season. If Gordon starts, expect applause. If he's rested, the phones are already ringing.
